Why Has South Carolina Failed Women?

In a study of the best and worst states in which to be a working mom, South Carolina Ranked 48 with only two other southern states ranked worst, according to Wallethub.

Combine this abysmal statistic with the most recent research that South Carolina ranks as the worst place to have a baby (50th according to Wallethub) and you wonder if any woman, young or old, can vote to put any Republican back in office. All of this tragic news for women has happened under 25 plus years of Republican control of South Carolina. Life and death of a baby should not be political ... but the Republican leadership has simply failed. It is a bit ironic that the ultra-religious, far-right conservative movement is so wrapped up in preventing a woman’s right to choose, yet, they have created the worst of environments for a woman to have a baby. Perhaps they feel they must protect a single cell in the womb, but the Republicans are failing to protect the living children, women and families.
